Bridgewater
The Bridgewater location of Prophett, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home was established by the Prophett family in 1860. It was a store front funeral home located in the center of Bridgewater until the 1940’s. At that time, most funerals were conducted from the home of the bereaved; but as times changed, so did the Prophett Funeral Home. The Prophett family relocated their funeral home to 98 Bedford Street (Rt. 18) to meet the demands of the community and new funeral traditions. Since the 1940’s the Prophett Funeral Home has been renovated and expanded.
The funeral home was purchased by Mr. Raymond Zeoli from the Prophett family after the death of Stephen Prophett in 1987. Mr. Zeoli recently sold his interest to the Chapman family in July of 2008. The Chapman family consists of brothers William B. Chapman of Milton and David M. Chapman of Falmouth, and their sons William of Mashpee, David of Falmouth and Mark now of Bridgewater, formerly of Milton. Their family owned funeral homes are named Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Homes and are located in Milton, Wareham, Mashpee, Falmouth, West Falmouth and Martha’s Vineyard.
The professional staff, which consists of Mark Chapman and Bill Moore have many years of experience in the funeral profession. Each director provides families with information, funeral service options, and most importantly compassion. They pride themselves on providing personalized funeral services tailored to each family’s needs.
