Elijah Kent Swift, III

1959 ∼ 2019

Elijah Kent Swift III, of Woods Hole and Cambridge, MA, died peacefully on January 9th, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Crohn’s Disease.

Kent attended the Woods Hole School and École Jeannine Manuel in Paris, FR.  Kent obtained his bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, later received an MBA from Suffolk University in Boston, and went on to a career in banking and accounting.  As an adult, Kent divided his time between Cambridge, MA and Woods Hole, MA.  Kent was a member of the Woods Hole Golf Club and Quissett Yacht Club.  He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, as well as fishing in the waters of Buzzards Bay and Vineyard Sound.  Kent was a longtime supporter of the Falmouth Historical Society and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.  He may best be remembered for his abiding devotion to his beloved Red Sox and Patriots.

Kent is predeceased by his parents Elijah Kent Swift Jr. and Arlette Blanche Swift. He leaves behind his sister Jeannine Steel Swift Jeffrey, brother-in-law Peter James Jeffrey, niece Anne Beridot Swift Jeffrey, nephew Peter James Whitin Jeffrey, and many cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the First Congregational Church of Falmouth, 68 Main Street, Falmouth.

Donations in his name may be made to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution or the Falmouth Historical Society.
