Gregory G. Basmajian

Gregory Gerald Basmajian, 82, of North Falmouth and formerly of Watertown, passed away on January 16, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Marie I. (McIntosh) Basmajian for 52 years. He was born in Boston to the late Hagop and Varsie (Kasparian) Basmajian.

Greg served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Upjohn Pharmaceuticals before moving with his wife and 2 small children to Falmouth where he was the owner of the Lil’ Peach Convenience Store on Woods Hole Road. He proudly worked for over 20 years for the Christmas Tree Shops. His favorite pastime was traveling to Italy on many occasions with his cousins and visiting his son in France. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps. He was an incredible athlete, captaining his college hockey team at UConn. He loved his Armenian heritage and looked forward to his large family reunion every Thanksgiving holiday.

In addition to his wife, Marie, Greg is survived by his son Jason Basmajian of London, UK, his daughter, Jill Willis and her husband Chris of Miramar Beach, FL; and his granddaughter Grace Willis. He also leaves his brother, John Basmajian of Watertown, many cousins, nephews and a niece.

Visiting hours will be held from 11:30am to 1:00pm on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 W. Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A), West Falmouth. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home with interment at 2:00pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to JML Care Center (for the benefit of Adult Day Health), 184 Ter Heun Dr., Falmouth, MA  02540.
