Cotuit - Livingston, James J (Jim) of Cotuit MA, 86, (formerly of Waltham, MA) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday January 16, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary R (Hogan) Livingston; his children: Mary Hamilton and husband John of Narragansett, RI, Anne Green, Catherine J. Gillan of Mashpee, MA, James J and Elizabeth Livingston of Washington DC, John and Tina Livingston of Dunstable, MA and Julie St. Sauveur and her husband Paul of Marlboro, MA; and 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Thomas W and Anna (Sullivan) Livingston of Roslindale, MA, his siblings, Thomas W Livingston, Mary Frances (Franny) Mullin and Joseph F Livingston and sons Thomas and Daniel Livingston.
Jim was a graduate of BC High (’49), Boston College (’53) and pursued further education at Northeastern University and Boston College School of Business. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He was a Sacristan, Usher and Eucharistic Minister at Christ the King Parish in Mashpee as well as former co-president of the 50-Plus Club. A former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and former president of the BC Club of Cape Cod, Jim was also involved in many other volunteer activities at the Church and in the community. He was recently honored by the Diocese of Fall River with the Marian Medal awarded for dedicated service to the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name can be made to Christ the King Parish.
Visiting Hours will be 4-7 pm Monday, January 21, 2019 at John Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Marstons Mills, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Christ the King Parish, 3 Job’s Fishing Rd., Mashpee, MA with burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
