Lawrence M. Hill

Lawrence M. Hill, 79, of Mashpee, formerly of Acton, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Norine Hill; his brother, J. Edwin Hill of Steamboat Springs, CO; his four children, Edwin Hill of Tacoma, WA, David Hill of Falmouth, Cynthia Smith of Groton, and Karen Hill of Gardner; his three grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Tracy Smith, and Victoria Hill; and his extended family, including his five great grandchildren, Liliana Hegarty, Sienna Hegarty-Cook, Brody Hanks, Logan Hanks, and Molly Hanks, Jayne Hill, Nancy Smith, Susan Irvine, Paul Smith, Rich Hanks, Jodi Hill, Maureen Stemp, Nigel Stemp, Julie Liu, Su-Yin Stemp, Kai Stemp, Richard Hanks, Jr., Nathan Hanks, James Hegarty, and Jessica Hegarty, along with many others.
Larry, as he was known to his family and friends, grew up in Colorado and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a graduate of Littleton High School and the University of Colorado, where he joined the ROTC program. Larry worked for RCA for over 30 years as an electrical engineer where he worked on the Lunar Landing Modules on the Apollo Program – among others. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Larry had a passion for food and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed attending air shows and was also a pioneer in recycling. Larry was a member of the Acton Civil Defense and the Acton Lions Club, where he once served as King Lion (President).
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee, on Sunday September 15, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. with a memorial to celebrate Larry’s life at 3 p.m. A reception will follow the memorial – details will be available at the memorial.
