Mary (Donlan) Richard, age 85, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2019 surrounded by her family, after a long illness. A former resident of Cohasset, Mary was born and raised in West Roxbury, and was the daughter of the late State Representative, Edmond J. Donlan and his wife, Rosella (Kenny) Donlan. Mary was the wife of the late James J. Richard. She was predeceased by her brothers Edmond Donlan, Herbert Donlan and her son, Charles M. Campion.
Mary was a graduate of Boston Teachers College, held two master’s degrees in education, and taught in the Boston Public Schools for 25 years. A lifelong Democrat, Mary’s enthusiasm in politics got her nominated, twice, as a delegate in the State Democratic Convention. Traveling was her passion and she was able to visit over 20 foreign countries as a tour guide in her post retirement career. Mary was a long time, dedicated celebrant at the Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham.
She is survived by her four daughters, Rosella Campion and her husband, Jonathan Smith, of Boston, Suzanne Campion and her husband, Raymond Carvey, of Falmouth, Tracy Campion and her husband, Bernard Greene, of Boston, Leigh Campion McInerney and her husband, Thomas McInerney, of Centerville, her daughter-in-law, Heather Campion of Brookline; her son Christian Richard of Weymouth, 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, her sister, Julie McNabb of Cohasset, her brother, Michael Donlan and his wife, Susan Donlan, of West Roxbury, and her sister in law, Patricia Donlan, of Yarmouthport.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, on Monday, the 21st of January 2019 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, MA. A Mass of The Resurrection & Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth, MA.
