Oscar E. Lindner, of Falmouth, MA, passed away on December 26, 2018 at the age of 79. Husband of Alice Mary Lindner (née O’Connor). Father of Holly Lindner Paraskevas, Tracy Lindner Chorches, Timothy Patrick Lindner, and T. Casey Lindner; grandfather of Jackson, Jared, Abigail Chorches and Colby and Ellie Lindner.
Born in Richmond Hill, NY, he grew up in Islip, Long Island, NY, graduated from Islip High School, and was a member of the high school band. He entered the US Navy where he served as an electronics technician and radio airman in the Naval Air division.
After three years in the Navy, Oscar entered Northeastern University School for Business and Insurance, graduating in 1965. During his college years he was elected president of his fraternity, Vice President of Inter-Collegiate Fraternity Council and was elected “Mr. Husky” cheering on the various sports teams of the University. During his time at NU he enjoyed the work-study program.
His chosen field was as an employee of Employers Insurance Company, now One Beacon. He was manager of the Hyannis Office for the Commercial Union Insurance Company. His last tenure with the company was as a special investigator in the fraud unit.
Oscar’s love of and interests in his children’s sports activities resulted in his participation as Vice President of Babe Ruth Baseball as well as coach of the championship team, President of Clippers Quarterback Club and acted as coach of Timmy and Casey’s Junior Olympic participation. He was also a member of the Old Dock softball team. He was also a member of the Mansfield and Falmouth Rotary Clubs. He was a member of the Hidden Village Bocci Club.
Oscar liked all things outdoors, including gardening, the beach, and being in the sun. He loved crossword puzzles, and things that would challenge his mind.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-5pm on Saturday, Jan. 5th at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A), in West Falmouth.
