Robert E. Lee, Jr.

Robert E. Lee Jr. “Red” (81 years old) passed away at the Royal Cotuit, Mashpee, MA on Wednesday, February 06, 2019 after a long, lengthy battle with Alzheimers.

Robert was born on March 13, 1937 in Hyannis, MA and raised in Dennis, MA. He is predeceased by Carol (Pye) his wife of 61 years; his parents Robert E. Lee Sr. and Lillian (Wade); and his brother Donald Lee. Robert is survived by his son, Robert E. Lee III and wife Kathleen of Mashpee, MA; Karen M. McBride and husband Donald of Centerville, MA, Debra A. Averett and husband Donald of Hyannis, MA; and Ann M. Lee and husband Barry of Plymouth, MA. He always had a loving, soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren: (granddaughters) Shannon, Meghan, and Caitlin Lee, (great-granddaughter) Aryanna; and (grandsons) James McBride and wife Samantha, and Michael McBride and wife Laura; and William and Taylor Averett. He is also survived by his brothers, Winthrop Lee (Victoria), Calvin Lee (Cheryl) and his sisters, Alice Valkenburg (William), Edna Hove, and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was fondly known to family and friends as “Red”. At 18 years of age, he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1955-1963. He married Carol in 1957 and raised his family on Cape Cod. He worked as a mechanic for many years at his father’s family garage, Blanchard Equipment, Scudder & Taylor, and Bucklers. He enjoyed traveling to Maine, hunting, fishing, and camping on Sandy Neck Beach.

Visiting Hours will be held Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd, Marstons Mills, MA. Burial Services will be on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:00am at Mosswood Cemetery, Putnam Ave, Cotuit, MA.
