COTUIT- Rosaria Raspante, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Cotuit, Massachusetts on January 9, 2019. Rosaria was the epitome of a loving mother and wife who was completely devoted to her family. She leaves behind her adoring husband of 54 years, Luciano Raspante. Rosaria was born in Sicily, Italy and moved to the United States in 1964. Here, she met the love of her life, Luciano. Their devotion to each other is truly a remarkable love story. When their journey brought them to Cape Cod in 1969, Rosaria immediately knew she wanted to live here for the rest of her life.
As anyone who knew her can remember, she was the most nurturing caregiver to her three children, her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law. She loved to cook and took great pride in using home grown fruits and vegetables in her dishes. Rosaria had many other hobbies. She was gifted at needlepointing, knitting, and crocheting lace. She was very proud of her heritage and instilled a love of Italian culture in her family. She especially loved to listen to Italian love songs. Rosaria worked outside of the home, which gave her great joy! She worked over 10 years at Filene’s Basement, in Hyannis and loved seeing her regular customers. She then went on to help raise her grandchildren, bestowing all the love and attention an Italian grandmother could give.
Rosaria will be lovingly missed by her children: Frank and his wife Pamela, Vincent and his wife Maryellen and Catherine and her husband Bob; grandchildren, Ryan Corcoran, Tia and Joseph Raspante, Bobby and Sara Higgins, Meili and Damir Raspante will always remember “la vita e bella.” Survived by her family in Italy and many nieces and nephews. Rosaria’s family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod nursing staff, and home health aides for their support and professional care.
A visitation will be held 12-4 pm Sunday, January 13, 2019 at John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Marstons Mills, MA.
