Shakina Rhonda (Chapman) Wright 54, of East Falmouth, died suddenly at the Falmouth Hospital on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. A mother, companion and mentor.
She was the beloved wife of the late Kihien Joseph Wright.
Shakina was the youngest born to James Brown and Shirley Chapman in Bronx, New York.
Many will remember Shakina as an influential figure in the upbringing of our community. Her love for children started as a caregiver at Cup Day School and the Boys and Girls Club in Bronx, New York. When Shakina and her late husband Kihien Joseph Wright relocated their family of five to Massachusetts, her passion for children continued at the Cape Cod Child Development Center and later on at Falmouth High School where among many memories she is well known for playing a significant role in the creation of the Cultural Awareness Club. She finished her career at the Barnstable House of Corrections. Although she has been many places she is always been known to treat people with respect, love, and dignity regardless of their situation. She leaves us to join her eternal partner Kihien Joseph Wright.
Shakina leaves to honor her legacy three sons; Shamien of Hyannis, Caliph of Centerville and Lamelle Wright of Falmouth; her two daughters, Phoenicia and Shakina Wright of Florida. Three grandchildren, Kionnaje, Kairelle Wright and Leanora Cardoza, Three sisters Marsha Brown-Reale, of Worcester, Laquisha Jefferson, Benet Chisholm of New York. Brother Kevin Chapman of Georgia. Nieces Connie Brown, and Brittany Chapman ; nephew Gregory Chapman and many cousins. Visiting hours will be from 12:00 to-4:00 PM on Thursday, October 24th in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth Center. Followed by a service in the funeral home at 4:00pm. Burial will be private.
