T. Walter Wannie

T. Walter Wannie, 87, of Centerville, passed away peacefully at Cape Regency on January 2, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of Meredith (Sisson) Wannie, to whom he was married 66 years. 

He was born and raised in Centerville, the son of the late Hilda (Coggeshall) Wannie and T. Walter Wannie Sr. Walter was a graduate of Barnstable High, received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University and his Master’s in Education from Bridgewater State College.  Walter was a Math Teacher at Barnstable Junior High School, Assistant Principal of Barnstable High School, retiring in 1987 as Principal of Barnstable High School.  He served on the Barnstable Town Council and the Conservation Commission.

He was well known for his love of family, golf, fishing, and boating, Wequaquet Lake and the ocean.

In addition to his wife Meredith, Walter is survived by his children, Thomas W. (Judith), Christopher (Evelyn), Beth Cardin (Richard), Adam (Pamela) and six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan 6th at 10:30 at South Congregational Church, 565 Main Street, Centerville, Mass.
