William F. Wege

William Frederick Wege, 87, of North Falmouth passed away on January 12, 2019, surrounded by his family at home after a long illness. He leaves behind his wife, Jane Pacheco Wege who he met and married while stationed at Otis Air Force Base in 1959; his daughter, Jan Marie Connolly of North Falmouth, and two grandchildren, Victoria Connolly Berg and her husband Alex of Holliston and Cameron Connolly of Allston. He also leaves his brother, Wilfred Wege of Ballston Lake NY and Conway SC. He was known affectionately to his grandchildren as “Bad Daddy”.

William was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute with a degree in Physics. In December 1956 he entered the US Air Force at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX as a pre-flight grad navigator. In 1959, he transferred to Mather AFB for radar reconnaissance training (SAC) on B47s where he was promoted to Captain during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served on alert in many countries. After AF he returned to Otis AFB to the 102nd Civil Engineering Group where he worked until his retirement in 1991.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, January 25th at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne.
