The East Bridgewater location of family owned and operated Chapman, Cole & Gleason is called Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason because it was acquired from the Prophett Funeral Home in 2008. Long ago, however, this location was home to town philanthropists Michael and Ellen Roach. A well-known contractor, Mr. Roach helped build state highway Route 18 through East Bridgewater, at the time a major thoroughfare to Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts.
A Family Tradition of Caring
In the 1950s, the Roach family sold the homestead to funeral director Bruce Anderton of Whitman. In 2008, then-owner Raymond Zeoli sold the funeral home to the Chapman family.
