Adrienne Genova

Adrienne Griffin Genova passed away peacefully at her home in Osterville, MA on August 11, 2020.

She was born Adrienne Nova Griffin, November 9, 1935 to Sidney and Lillian Griffin in Wilkinsburg, PA, and was raised in Hamilton, MA. She graduated from Beverly High School and earned her associate’s degree from Fisher College. She spent her early professional years as an airline stewardess for TWA before marrying the love of her life, Fred Donald “Don” Genova, April 25, 1959. The couple moved from Massachusetts to Virginia in 1965, where they raised their three children. In Virginia, Adrienne worked with Humana Group Health supporting those suffering from mental illness. The family spent summers on her beloved Cape Cod, where Adrienne and Don ultimately retired.

Ever refined and fastidious, Adrienne was a passionate collector of art and antiques. She was a fervent proponent of education, and lovingly encouraged her children and grandchildren to achieve their dreams. An ardent birdwatcher, she cared deeply about and was a steadfast supporter of wildlife conservation.

Adrienne is survived by her husband and three children, Lisa Anne Genova of New York, NY; Kendra Genova May (Addison Kemp May) of Charlotte, NC; David Moore Genova (Anne Harrison Genova) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Natalie Boren May, Adrienne Taylor May, Margot Malone May, Claire Simmons Genova, and Austin Lee Genova. She is also survived by her sister Jeanne Griffin Urquhart and numerous nieces and nephews.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Adrienne will be deeply missed.

Because of the public health crisis, there will be no memorial service in the near future, but a celebration of life will take place when gatherings are once again safe. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod – 255 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601 or to the charitable organization of your choice. Check memo line should read, “In Memory of Adrienne Genova.”
