Alfonza “Fonz” Cameron, Jr.

Alfonza “Fonz” Cameron, Jr., 59, of Mashpee, died suddenly in his home on June 9, 2020. He was the son of Alfonza Cameron, Sr. and the late Martha Jo Woodyard.

Alfonza was born August 8, 1960 in Hartford, CT. He was brought to North Carolina and was educated in Wake County.  He graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC in 1979. From a young age, Alfonza always sought to take care of others. After working at Rex Hospital for a long period of time, he moved to Massachusetts in 1991 with his daughter and her mother.

Alfonza is remembered as an extremely hardworking and loyal man. This is most evident with his career, where he spent nearly 30 years working as a technician for the marine technology company, first at ORE in Falmouth, and through the company’s transition to Edgetech, in Wareham. Recently, he was recognized for always going above and beyond at work when he was given the Hero Award at his company.

Fonz enjoyed photography and loved creating and enjoying home videos. He loved watching college basketball, and was always rooting for his favorite team, “Go North Carolina”! He loved biking, all types of music, and his latest love of a new show.

Alfonza leaves to cherish his memories daughter Cassidy Rose Cameron of Swampscott, MA; her Fiance Mitch Williams and his 3 grandchildren, Lennon and twins Marley and Donovan; mother of Cassidy and close friend Kristi Garner, of Wareham, MA; his father Alfonza Sr. and wife Mary J. Cameron, of Raleigh, NC; his siblings Angela, Diane and Allan all of Raleigh, NC; his uncle Louis, of Raleigh, NC; aunt Helen Cameron and husband, Walter, of Raleigh, NC; his uncle Henry Woodyard of New York, NY; his best friend and cousin James Jr. (Boo) of Raleigh, NC; Mr. Hershel Woodyard, of NJ; and lastly his ORE/Edgetech family. Alfonza was preceded in death by his mother Martha, his grandmother Josephine, his aunt Alethia, uncles Charles, James, Walter and George, and cousins David and Lawrence.
