Allan MacDonald

1920 ∼ 2019

Allan MacDonald, 98, of Mashpee on May 7, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Crehan) MacDonald for 72 years. Born on August 22, 1920, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (MacPherson) MacDonald. A resident of Mashpee for the past 23 years, Allan and Dorothy previously lived in Hyde Park, MA. Allan was a former air traffic controller. A Naval aviator in WWII, Allan flew fighters and dive bombers off the USS Midway and USS Randolph.

Allan was the loving father of Allan MacDonald Jr. of Mashpee, Marie Candura and her husband Daniel of Mashpee and Paul MacDonald and his wife Carol of Stratham, NH. Grandmother of Christopher Candura and his wife Allison of Hanover, Brandon Candura and his wife Patricia of Braintree, Jeffrey Candura and his wife Leanne of North Yarmouth ME, Devon Gensler and her husband Steve of Weymouth, Brian MacDonald and his wife Kelly of Los Angeles CA, Michael MacDonald of Hanover, Kevin MacDonald and his wife Rachel of Stowe, Alison Langone and her husband Steve of New Hampshire, Dianna MacDonald of San Francisco CA and Melissa MacDonald of Northlake IL, also survived by 10 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Catherine Power of Mashpee and Mary Kelley of Bourne and five nephews.

A visitation will be held at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151) in Mashpee on Friday, May 10 from 4:00-7:00 pm.  Family and friends are invited to arrive at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 Quaker Rd., North Falmouth on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 am to celebrate Allan’s Funeral Mass. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Allan may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or online at https://www.stjude.org/.
