Alyce Day of Hyannis, age 79, passed on from this life but not from our memories on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. She was born to the late John and Marie Barrows on January 16, 1938 in Lowell, MA.
Alyce was a graduate of Chamberlayne Junior College where upon graduation she began her administrative assistant career working in the President’s office at Boston College. She left to raise a family and then after moving back home to her beloved Cape Cod, she resumed her career where she was employed for several years at Job Corp. Upon leaving there, “AlyceDay”, one word, as she was popularly known, kept herself busy and engaged by assisting many friends. She enjoyed organizing and hosting events at the Colony House where she resided. Her favorite moments were those with her family, especially her children and grandchildren who she dearly loved. She always had a small photo book at the ready to share with everyone she knew and even those she didn’t.
Alyce was predeceased by her sisters Joan Leeman, Marylou Shields, brother John Barrows, Jr, and son-in-law Steven Pagani. Sisters Elizabeth Downey, Judie Scofield, Donna Bowman, and brother Jim Barrows survive her. She was also blessed with eighteen nieces and nephews. Her friends were numerous and cherished.
Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren: daughter Karen (Day) Narciso and husband Rich, daughter Kathleen (Day) Pagani and son Edward J. Day 3rd and his wife Maria Castaneda. Grandchildren include Hayley and Brandon Narciso, Shannon Day, Edward Day Castaneda, and Xanath Castaneda.
To our “AlyceDay”, you always gave so much of yourself and asked for so little. Thank you for always being there for us, teaching us, guiding us, listening to, and helping us. Thank you for making us smile and laugh and making us all appreciate the good things in life, especially real butter and cream! Most importantly, thank you for loving us so completely and with all your heart.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm at the John Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills on Thursday, January 11, 2018. We encourage all to share with us your love and memories of her. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10am. Final burial will be private.
