Ann (Doyle) Albert, 90, life-long resident of Falmouth, died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Royal Falmouth Nursing Center. She was the widow of Marcel L. Albert, long-time owner of the Falmouth Jewelry Shop, who died in 1998. They were married in Falmouth at Saint Patrick’s Church in 1956.
She was the daughter of Mary G. and John P. Doyle of Falmouth. She was born in May 1928 in a house her parents built on Walker Street on land acquired from her paternal grandmother. Her father died of tuberculosis in 1929 when she was one year old. She grew up and lived in that home until she married and moved to a house she and her husband purchased off Walker Street on nearby Lakeway where they raised their four children. She moved back to her childhood home with her family after her mother’s death in 1980 and resided in that house until she was admitted to Royal Falmouth Nursing Center in 2015.
She was a 1946 graduate of Falmouth’s Lawrence High School and employed by H. V. Lawrence Nursery that stood on Depot Avenue, working on their clerical staff until 1955 when she began working at the Falmouth Jewelry Shop for her future husband.
At St. Patrick’s Church she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, sang in the choir and taught catechism to parishioners in the 2nd grade preparing for their First Communion. In 1989 she traveled to visit her son, M. Leo Albert, Jr. who was studying in England and visited her mother’s birthplace in Rathbane, County Mayo, Ireland.
She leaves a daughter, Nancy Albert Peterson of Falmouth; and two sons, Brian Doyle Albert, and Mark L. Albert and his wife Deborah, also of Falmouth; five grandchildren, Mark Liam Albert and his wife Kerri of Dedham, MA, Breana Peterson and Matthew, Timothy and Emily Albert of Falmouth; one great-grandson, Liam Michael Albert; several nieces and nephews; and many godchildren. She was the mother of M. Leo Albert, Jr. who died in August 1996. She also was predeceased by her brother John P. Doyle, Jr. (Jack) of Falmouth.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, Jan. 11th at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, Jan. 12th at Saint Patrick’s Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth. Burial will follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery, Gifford Street, Falmouth.
