Anne Follett

1934 ∼ 2018

Anne Fletcher Follett, 84, passed away in Chatham, Mass., on Dec. 21, 2018.

Anne was born August 19, 1934, in Warwick, Rhode Island, the daughter of John T. and Elsie E. Fletcher. After earning a B.A. from the University of Rhode Island, she married Ronald A. Follett of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She and Ron lived briefly in Florida and Washington, D.C., before settling outside of Boston, where she worked as a preschool teacher and library assistant while raising three children. She and Ron retired to the Cape in 1996.

Anne was an avid golfer, sailor and bridge player, and was a long-time member of several churches and parish auxiliary groups. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband, family and friends. She was devoted to her husband, with whom she celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2017, and our sadness at her passing is tempered by our hope that she and Ron are together somewhere on a quiet mooring after a good day’s sail, enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine.

Anne is predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother, Alan Fletcher, and his wife, Jean; and her children: David Follett and his wife, Pamela; Scott Follett and his wife, Nancy; and Robert Follett and his wife, Susan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Allan, and his wife, Elaine; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on June 1 at the First Congregational Church of Chatham, which is located at 650 Main St. in Chatham, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald and Anne Follett Music Fund at First Congregational.
