Anthony & Mary Piazzola

Anthony and Mary Piazzola, of Hyannis, Massachusetts, died three days apart, during the week of May 10, 2020. Anthony was 97 and Mary was 94. They had been married 73 years.

Mary was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. For many years, she was a secretary at Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ. She was beloved by all the students. As a young girl, she also had been a choir soloist. Although she suffered from Alzheimer’s, she still could sing beautifully and remember all the words to “Over The Rainbow” and “Ave Maria”.

Anthony was born in Jamaica, New York. He served with the Army in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a skilled and sought-after tailor at the business he owned, Crown Cleaners, in Cranford, New Jersey.

Mary and “Tony” moved to Cape Cod in 2011, to be closer to their daughter, Linda Lee, and her husband, Dr. John Benanti. They loved the beach, their patio garden, pizza dinners, concerts at the Melody Tent, and old movies.

They are also survived by grandson John A. Benanti of Angier, NC; his daughter, Sabina of Austin, TX; his brother Sal of Long Island; and his brother Paul and his sisters Tina and Anna, all of Florida.
