Anthony S. Kopaczewski

.Anthony S. Kopaczewski, 71, passed away on December 24, 2016 at Cape Heritage in Sandwich. Beloved husband of Ann-Marie (Mrozinski) Kopaczewski.
Born in New Bedford, he was the eldest son of Anthony and Loretta (Walski) Kopaczewski. Anthony graduated from Bishop Stang High School in 1963 and joined the Navy in 1965 and served 23-1/2 years. He was a Missile, Technician, a Military Dog Handler and a Submariner. He achieved the rank of Command Master Chief. He was honorably discharged from the USS Simon Lake berthed in Holy Loch, UK. Anthony received the meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement medal (2), SSBN Deterrent Patrol Insignia (5), Navy Commendation Award and Good Conduct Medal (5).
After his service, Anthony ran several businesses in New Bedford and was active in various business associations: he was also a mentor for kids and maintenance supervisor for GATRA before retiring in 2013.
Anthony is survived by his son Shawn (Kate) of Hermiston, Or.; daughters Victoria (James) Ruskowski and Amy (James) Carr of Issaquah, Wa., former daughter-in-law Tammy Kopaczewski Grant's Pass, Or.: 6 grandchildren Andrew Kopaczewski of Ottowa, Ks, Ainsley and Amber Kopaczewski of Grant's Pass, Or, Sheldon Marcotte and Kaelan Carr of Issaquah,Wa, Angie Green Kopaczewski of Columbia, Mo and honorary granddaughter Brielle Dunham of Wichita, Ks. He is also survived by Ann-Marie's children Mark (Kerri) of W. Yarmouth and Andrew Mrozinski of E. Falmouth. Grandpa Tony to Lilianna Carpenter, Jordan Carpenter, Jeremy McLean, John and Alexis Mrozinski of W. Yarmouth and his sister Mary Radley and her companion Rene Thoeni of Auburn, Ca, brothers Michael ( Lisa) and John (Cindy) of Dartmouth, Ma.; nieces Kathy Timberlake of Ca and Cara Kopaczewski of Dartmouth and nephew Justin Kopaczewski of Dartmouth, Ma.
Visiting hours will be 4-7 PM on Thursday January 12th at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home 3778 Falmouth Road Marstons Mills, Ma. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM January 13th at Christ the King, 3 Job's Fishing Road, Mashpee, Ma. Burial will follow at 11:30 AM in the VA Cemetery in Bourne.
