Arthur R. Karlson, age 88 of Bridgewater, died peacefully while in the care of his family on Nov. 21, 2017. Arthur was born in Brockton, son of the late Arthur and Abby (Chase) Karlson, and like many young men of that era starting working at an early age at a local shoe factory. He proudly joined the US Army in the early 50’s, serving in Korea, and later would raise his family in Bridgewater. He worked at Stonehill College for over 35 years where his co-workers were like family to him. He loved the Red Sox and always enjoyed spending time at the 99 Restaurant in Easton.

Arthur was the loving father of Arthur R. Karlson Jr.and his wife Lynn of Bridgewater, loving step-father of Joyce  Anderson and her husband Michael of Plymouth, Susan Kaplinger and her husband Roger of Middleboro, Karen L. Hickey and her husband Jay of Bridgewater, and the late Barbara Coderre and the late Howard Smith . Brother of Helen Bogdanoff of Brockton, Barbara Silevicz of Brockton, and the late Lorraine Pike and Myrtle Johnson. Proud grandfather of Jacob and his wife Natalie and Abigail and her husband Matt and great grandfather of Athena.

Family and friends are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Tues. Nov. 28th for a visitation period from 4:00-6:00 pm and a funeral service with military honors starting at 6:00pm.
