B. Robert Talanian

1931 ∼ 2019

WAQUOIT - Benjamin Robert Talanian, known as Bob, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2019 at age 87 after a long illness, with his family by his side.

After graduating from Roslindale High School, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Korea aboard the Coral Sea. He pursued a business education at Boston University and then acquired a cosmetology degree from Mansfield Beauty Academy with the goal of opening his own salon. Bob ran several successful service salons before originating the PROCUTS concept with his wife, Miriam; reasonable priced cuts in a modern streamlined atmosphere with full services available a la carte. Their vision took off and PROCUTS is now a successful chain run by his offspring with 11 locations from Orleans to Plymouth.

The son of the late Sampad Talanian and Sarah Shervanian, Bob wed Miriam T. Caputo of Winchester in 1959. At the time of his death, he was just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife Miriam of Waquoit and his sister Marianne Babikian of San Diego, CA, he is survived by his twin daughters, Lynne Talanian Mangalo of Osterville, wife of Michel Mangalo, and Robyn Talanian Burns of Osterville along with is son David Talanian of Waquoit. Bob was the proud grandfather of Lauren, Alexandra and Michael, and great grandfather to Maryam. His passions along with his family included gardening, cooking, fishing, quahogging and refurbishing antique furniture, all of which he pursued with vigor and unstoppable work ethic; a trait which lives on in the legacy of his salon chain.

Bob’s burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make memorial donations to Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for VNA of Cape Cod, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA  02601 (givetocapecodhealth.org).
