Barbara Anne Swimm

1925 ∼ 2019

Barbara (Farren) Swimm, 93 , daughter of the late Nellie and Eugene Farren passed away on October 27, 2019 at Cape Cod Hospital with her family at her side. She was the former wife of Francis Kenneth (Ken) Swimm who passed away in 1981.

She will be greatly missed and joyfully remembered by her 3 sons: Kenneth (Pat) Swimm, Robert (Joan) Swimm, Kevin Swimm and daughter Kathleen Swimm. Her 9 grandchildren: Erin (Jon) Valm, Heather (Ron) Nascimento, Brandon Swimm, Tim (Nikki) Swimm, Courtney (Kris) Kamborian, Nicole Swimm (Matt), Joshua (Heather) Swimm, Kayla (Diego) Arredondo, and Ryan Swimm. Her 7 great-grandchildren: Mollie, Aliyah, Lukhas, Brandon, Charlie, Emilio, and Joseph. And her 2 cats Shane and Domino.

Upon graduating from Braintree High School, Barbara worked at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Boston. She moved to the Cape in 1974. She worked in the Registrar’s Office at Cape Cod Community College. After retiring from the college she worked part-time for the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce.

Family and friends meant everything to Barbara. She loved to host family gatherings from which her family will always remember. Barbara was very active for the March of Dimes Telerama and the American Cancer Society. She was an active member in the Villagers Social Club of the Barnstable Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba where you could find her at the slot machines!

Her genuine love for people impacted everyone she met for the better. She brought a smile and comfort into all of our lives and we will miss her forever.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cape Cod Hospital, VNA of Cape Cod, COMM Fire Department, Hospice, and the Pavilion for the wonderful care she received.

Visiting Hours will be held at John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, MARSTONS MILLS, MA, from 2:00-5:00 on Wednesday, November 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MSPCA 1577 Falmouth rd. Centerville, MA 02632.
