Barbara Duhaime, 70, of Hatchville, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016. She was born in Bristol, CT and grew up in Plainville, CT the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Edna M. (Hasselbrock) Duhaime. She was a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School (1964), Bristol CT and Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston, MA.
Barbara lived a blessed and fulfilled life. She was raised in Plainville, Connecticut. She was the second oldest of 8 children and was instrumental in the upbringing of her younger siblings. Barbara began her working career bookkeeping for the family business Forestville Lumber. Over the years since, she wore many different hats, she had a very colorful and interesting life and career path, including interior designer, 70’s discotheque owner, gift shop proprietor, and expert knowledgeable flooring salesperson. Babs resided most recently in Falmouth surrounded by her daughter, grandchildren and her beloved Chapoquoit Beach. Prior to moving to Falmouth, she lived in Alameda California for almost 20 years. Barbara loved the Bay area and enjoyed sharing it with her sister and brother-in-law Karen and Robert Park, as well as her niece and nephew, Craig and Elizabeth also of Alameda. Barbara was a gifted and talented gardener, she enjoyed spending countless hours in her yard planting and maintaining her beautiful flowers and plantings that were the envy of the neighborhood. Grandma Barbara also enjoyed attending her grandchildren Ryan and Lucas’s many sporting events that she always watched the games with a big smile on her face.
In the second half of her life she became a born again Christian and she devoted herself to be a dutiful servant of the Lord. She had been a member of Cape Cod Church, Heritage Christian Church, and East Bay Faith Center. All who knew her will miss her kind and thoughtful manner. Bless God.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Stacie Kapulka of Falmouth and her husband Stephen Kapulka; son, Jamie Koch of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her siblings: Martha DiVincenzo (Duhaime) of Westbrook, CT, Roger Duhaime of Bristol, CT, David Duhaime of Rockaway Beach, NY, and Karen Park of Alameda, CA; her grandchildren: James Michael Koch of Eufaula, Oklahoma, and Ryan Cristoferi and Lucas Kapulka both of North Falmouth, Massachusetts as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Paul, Donald, and Ernest Duhaime.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 21st from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Chapman, Cole, and Gleason, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A), WEST FALMOUTH.
