Barbara M. Stone

Barbara M. Stone 87, of Mashpee, died peacefully on December 29, 2019. Daughter of the late James T. Perkins & Mary E. Perkins and sister to a predeceased infant brother.

A 1951 graduate of Barnstable High School, she was employed by Paine, Webber, Jackson and Curtis of The Boston stock exchange in Boston after graduation, also Puritan Cape Cod, Department of Defense (Air Force) and the U.S. Treasury Department (IRS). A total of 21 years with the government. She retired in 2000.

After retirement, she enjoyed day trips to casinos, Red Sox games and theaters.

As a military wife, she traveled to Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, Philippines, Guam, Kansas, Rochester, New York and in 1970 returned to Osterville, MA.

From 1964 to 1967 she lived overseas in Australia and the Philippines.

A member of the Hyannis Yacht Club, Democratic National Committee and National Treasury Employees Union. She was a special friend of Edward M. Kennedy. She had great respect for the family.

Survived by many cousins and dear friends on Cape Cod, R.I., Maine, S.C. and Florida.

Barbara will be remembered as a loving, generous lady and will be missed, but not forgotten by all who loved her.

Visiting hours will be from 5-7PM om Monday January 6, 2019 at John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Marstons Mills, MA. A funeral service in the funeral home will be on Tuesday January 7, at 11AM. Burial will follow in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.
