Benjamin Baxter Staples

ONSET – Benjamin Baxter Staples, 55, of Onset, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Feb. 12, 2019 at home of complications from diabetes.  He grew up in Shrewsbury, spent happy summers at Lawrence Pond in Sandwich, and later moved to Princetion for many years with his former wife and children, before settling in Onset since 2013 with his wife Suzi. 

Mr. Staples graduated from the New England Institute of Technology. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Ranor Inc. in Westminster for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, being on or near the water, and was an avid Patriots fan. Ben always had a kind, loving, and joyous spirit, and treasured his many friends and family throughout his lifetime. Although beset by health problems for a prolonged period, he relished time spent with his wife Suzie, his children, grandchildren, friends and family.

Survivors include wife Suzanne Q. (Sutliffe) Staples; children Matthew of Clinton, Samantha of Fitchburg; mother Jacqueline (Snow) Staples of Sandwich; step daughter Morgan Russell of Onset; sisters Heidi Staples of San Diego, CA and Sue Staples of Worcester; grandchildren Colton Staples and Karleigh; nieces, Danielle Staples Magario and Monica Salazar; nephews Russell Delaney and Gregory Salazar; former wife, Lisa (Varnum) Staples of Clinton; stepmother Dorothy Staples of Naples, FL; many friends; and his beloved dog, Bobber.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Courtney, brother Russell, and father Carlton (Spike) Staples.

A celebration of Ben’s life will be planned for early summer. Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, MA.
