1933 ∼ 2019
Betty-Jane McCormack, 86, died Nov. 4th after a brief illness. Betty or Bobby as her family knew her, was the daughter of the late William and Katherine (Watson) Winter and grew up in Englewood NJ before moving to Mattapan in the early 1950’s.
Betty and John married on Feb. 27, 1954 and they settled in Mattapan before moving to Norwood. Betty was true homemaker and wonderful cook. She was always there for her two children; whether they needed encouragement, help with homework, a ride to a game, or a big hearty meal to take their mind off of everything. As the kids got older, Betty worked as a waitress at The Hemlock for many years and later worked in retail. When her and John wanted to blow off some steam, they could be found dancing in various dance halls that were popular in the mid 60’s and 70’s or taking the kids for a drive to NJ or NY to visit relatives. She always loved music and Johnny Mathis and Old Blue Eye’s Frank Sinatra were here favorites.
Later in life Bobby would watch her grandchildren on a regular basis which she always loved. She was enjoyed Knitting, crochet, gameshows, and cooking. She was a true talent in the kitchen and always made the best spaghetti sauce which she hopes her family will continue to make.
Betty was the loving wife of the late John J. McCormack and devoted mother of Jeff McCormack and his wife Laura of NH, and Patricia L. Paula and her husband Richard of Bridgewater. Loving “Bobby” of Timothy, Brian, and Kelly and “Great Bobby” of Jack and Joseph. Sister of the Joyce Daley and also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Fri. Nov. 8th . A visitation period will be held from 4pm to 6pm. A funeral service will begin at 6pm and burial will be private.
