Carl F. Davis

1937 ∼ 2019

Carl F. Davis

Carl F Davis, 82, of Centerville, MA, reunited with his beloved late wife on June 14, 2019. Born April 10, 1937 in Boston, Carl was the son of the late William Davis and Elsie (Lounsbury) Davis. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Maryanne Davis, and his brother, Bruce Davis of Port Charlotte, FL.

Carl honorably served his country in the United States Naval Reserve. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Culinary Institute and Cornell University. Upon graduation, Carl became the youngest Chef at the historic Yankee Silversmith in Wallingford, CT where he met the woman who would soon become his wife and soulmate for life. Carl and Maryanne moved to Cape Cod where they set roots, starting a family filled with love, humor and giving.

Carl was a gifted and talented Chef. For over 35 years he created delectable meals at the acclaimed Riverview School in East Sandwich where he also taught classes and mentored students and staff. He took great joy and pride in working at Riverview and often spoke of all the ways the students and employees enhanced his life.

Carl also worked as Head Chef at the prestigious Beach Club in Centerville. He was often quick with a witty story regarding the cocktail parties and buffets and seldom careful not to include names. Carl also served for many years as an elected town official for the village of Osterville, volunteered with numerous local organizations and served on several boards.  Carl was known for his amazing knowledge of history and politics and his uncanny ability to remember every detail from every experience he had ever had. He enjoyed hours on the ocean on his boat, fishing and relaxing and being with his family and friends. He took his family on many trips, including Aruba, Hawaii and several visits to Disney.  After retirement, Carl and Maryanne continued to enjoy traveling. They had a home in Florida where they spent a portion of many winters and also took cruises to various locations with family and friends.

Carl is survived by his daughter Heather (Davis) Zacharakis and her husband George Zacharakis of Pepperell, MA, his son and best friend, Andrew Davis of Hyannis, MA, grandchildren Paige and Nathan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
