Carmine F. Grassini 89 of Hyannisport, Massachusetts passed away on June 26, 2018 at Mayflower Nursing Center in Yarmouth, MA.
Born in New York City in 1929, Carmine was the youngest of eight children of Filomena and Damiano Grassini. Carmine worked for Con Edison in New York City for most of his working career. He spent a few years studying and working with the Maryknoll Mission Society. This turned out to be the beginning of his lifelong commitment to living a Christian life and doing his best to help those in need.
Carmine met his late wife Roseanna McCourt Grassini in 1955. After more than 30 years of Carmine’s patient persistence, Roseanna and Carmine fell in love and married in 1992. The two of them spent their time travelling the world multiple times. When they were not travelling, Roseanna and Carmine dedicated and contributed much of their time and finances to a wide variety of Catholic Charities. Both of them were involved in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Carmine is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Both of them were deeply involved in their local parish, Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville Ma.
Carmine is survived by his sister, Nancy Vella and his sister- in- law Madeline Grassini.
He was the loving step father to, Michael McCourt of Reading, MA, Stephen McCourt and his wife Janice of Walpole, MA, and the late Allyn McCourt and his surviving wife Michelle of Jamaica Plain. He was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews and cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Carmine was a man who had truly developed the art of being an honest and genuine gentleman. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, July 1st in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Route 28, Marstons Mills, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday July 2, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 So. Main Street, Centerville, MA. A time of fellowship will follow in the Parish Hall at Our Lady of Victory immediately following the mass. Burial with honors will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45PM.
