Carol S. deBettencourt (Merry) died the evening of November 22, 2020 with her children by her side at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital.
She is survived by her children Nora Jardin (Gary), Louise Dahill, Will deBettencourt III (Susan), and Todd deBettencourt (Katie) as well as her beloved grandchildren Heidi Tirro, Brittany Boulerice, Bethany Hammond, Will deBettencourt IV, Kayla deBettencourt and seven precious great-grandchildren.
Additionally she leaves her brother David Merry (Jean), and sisters Joan Merry (Don Lyons) and Debbie Magnuson (Eric) from West Tisbury as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was predeceased by her husband William (Bink) deBettencourt Jr. and her brother Billy Merry.
Carol was beyond devoted to her children, close friends, and family. Fortunately she was able to be a stay-at-home mom while also managing her husband's business, Bink's Auto. There wasn't a sporting event or club meeting she missed.
When her kids were grown, she became a home health aide, a foster parent and sitter for generations of family and friends. No one went without if Carol knew about it. Many of those she helped became close, lifelong friends.
Another passion was her outdoor furry and feathered friends that brought her great enjoyment watching them at the multiple feeders in the yard. Her yard was a showplace and she spent countless hours tending and planting beautiful shrubs and flowers.
Her graveside service was held on Nov. 28 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Bluffs officiated by Rev. Chip Seadale.
Donations in Carol Sue's memory may be made to an animal rescue or shelter of one's choice.
