Caroline E. Philbin

Philbin, Caroline E. (McGurin) passed away on 9/30/2020 after a brief illness, at 92.

Caroline was born in East Boston, MA, the fifth child of Robert and Alta McGurin on 11/18/1927. Growing up in Everett, MA, Caroline graduated from Everett High school, class of 1945. She studied at Katherine Gibbs School and became a secretary for Standard Oil (Esso/Exxon). She married Thomas F. Philbin on 9/25/1954.

Caroline is predeceased by her husband, parents and her sisters, Margaret Obrey, Grace Ernst, Roberta McGurin, and (Alta)Frances Crum. She is survived by her four children, Maureen Philbin-Crockett and her husband, Carleton of South Yarmouth, MA, her son John Philbin and his wife Paula, of Boxford, MA, Patricia Ciampa and her husband Joe of Winthrop, MA and Pauline Philbin of South Yarmouth and her partner Curt. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Bridget Philbin, Michael Philbin, Nicholas Bellofatto and Alex Bellofatto, who were her pride and joy.

Caroline was an avid reader, and loved counted cross stitching. She spent several years volunteering at the Hospice Thrift Shop in Yarmouthport. She enjoyed aqua fitness at the Mayflower pool, traveling and luncheons with friends.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Mayflower Place Nursing Home and the Visiting Nurses Association for taking great care of our mom.

Visitation will be Sunday Oct 4th 2-5pm in Morris, O’Connor & Blute funeral home 58 Long Pond Dr, S. Yarmouth MA 02664.

The funeral Mass will be Monday Oct 5th 11:00am in St. Francis Xavier Parish 347 South Street, Hyannis, MA  02601.

Burial will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery 161 Old Mill Way, West Yarmouth, MA 02673
