Caroline M. Freeman

Caroline (Casey) M. (Kirby) Freeman, 89, of Fairfield, CT, formerly of East Falmouth MA, died peacefully on Friday, July 7th, 2017 at the Carolton Convalescent Home in Fairfield, CT.  Casey was the wife of the late Frederick C. Freeman for 56 years.

Casey grew up in Winthrop, MA the only daughter of Bill and Caroline Kirby and was surrounded by 3 brothers; the late Josiah Kirby, the late William Kirby, and Russell Kirby.   Following graduation from Winthrop High School where she established friendships that lasted her entire life, Casey attended Regis College in Weston, MA.  While at Regis Casey went on a double date and met the love of her life, Freddie Freeman.  The two were married in 1951, bought their first home on Willard Road in Reading, MA and began what would always be Casey’s first love and top priority; her family.

Throughout her life Casey was a woman of profound faith and love, and her commitment to those around her never yielded. In addition to raising six kids and welcoming her Dad into her home for the last 8 years of his life, Casey was involved in many community groups and established deep, caring and lasting friendships from Reading, MA to Fairfield, CT, to Milton, MA and finally in Falmouth, MA.  Casey always sought to create a welcoming atmosphere for anyone and everyone with a God-given combination of love, grace and humor that formed the essence of who she was.

Casey is survived by her six children; Patty Loh and her husband Dan, Mike Freeman and his wife Patrice, Beth Mengel and her husband John, Tommy Freeman, Diane Huth and her husband Tom and Jim Freeman and his wife Cathy.  Casey is also survived by 14 grandchildren (Rob, Kate, Tim, Caitlin, Bridget, Chris, Sheila, Kristin, Clare, Eric, Casey, Michelle, Mary Kate and Hannah).  She was also Great Grandmother to Robbie, Andrew, Reese, Nell, Josie, Mikey, Leo, Evie, Bea, and Georgie.

A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18 at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, MA, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Hwy, E. Falmouth.  Burial will follow at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
