Catherine L. Flood, 83, of East Bridgewater, died peacefully on Sept. 16th while in the comfort of her family. Catherine was the beloved daughter of the late Nicholas and Millie (Maddalona) Minella and grew up in Brooklyn NY.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Flood Sr. and loving mother of Robert A. Flood Jr. and his wife Rosemary of East Bridgewater and Louise M. Flood of East Bridgewater. Proud “Grandma” of Angelina and Grant. Loving sister of the late Nicholas Minella, John Minella, Anthony Minella, David Minella, Louise Minella, and Millie Minella.
In the early 1960’s she met a young man named Robert A. Flood who was on leave from the Army and after a year-long courtship married on May 5, 1962. Like many kids growing up in NYC in the late 50’s Catherine fell in love with Frank Sinatra. She loved all his songs. Catherine and Bob moved to Massachusetts in 1971 and settled in Brockton. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. After raising her family, to keep herself active she began working at B.S.U. where she worked until retirement. She loved cooking Italian food, going to plays with her daughter and family especially in NYC, all things Frank Sinatra and Humphrey Bogart, reading, and word puzzles. Catherine was a proud Catholic, breast cancer survivor, and will be missed by all who knew her. “Here’s looking at you kid – Humphrey Bogart”.
Catherine is survived by her In-laws Nancy Sherman, Sandra and Robert Reynolds, Brith Minella and many loving relatives and friends.
All are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring St. East Bridgewater on Sunday September 20th for a visitation period from 3-6pm.
Funeral procession gathering Monday September 21 at 9:30am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Church, 210 Central St. East Bridgewater.
Burial will follow at Central Cemetery.
