Charles Allen Davis Jr., of East Falmouth, died Wednesday April 12, 2017 at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. He was 77.
He was the husband of Ann M. Davis; they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
The son of Capt. Charles Allen Davis Sr. and Margaret (Cunningham) Davis, he was born on October 26, 1939 in Brockton, MA. He was raised in Rockland and Falmouth, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1958 and Babson College in 1962.
As a young man, Chuck started working summers at Stop & Shop in Falmouth. He began his banking career at Falmouth National Bank as a teller, eventually becoming branch manager. He next worked for ComElectric/EverSource as an accountant for almost 25 years before retiring in 1996. Post-retirement, Chuck worked at the Eastern Bank in Cotuit.
Mr. Davis was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 42 for many years; he was also a member of the Marine Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Falmouth. Chuck had a passion for all things aviation-related since he was quite young, many rigid airship books and military jet photos can be found in his collection.
His roots in Falmouth lie deep. A direct descendant of Jonathan Hatch and Dolor Davis, early settlers here, seven generations of his family can be found buried in Falmouth.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Catherine M. Davis and her partner Steven Pezwick of Norfolk, MA; a son, Charles A. Davis III and his partner Lori Geishecker of Haverhill, MA; a daughter, Jessica L. Audette and her husband Keith Audette of Hillsborough, NH; and two grand-children, Samantha A. Audette, and Jacob D. Audette. He also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, April 22, from 10 – 12 pm at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway (Route 28A), in West Falmouth. A memorial service will follow at 12pm in the funeral home.
