Charles Gale, 88, beloved husband of Carolyn Gale, died Sunday, March 17 after a brief illness at his Yarmouth Port home, surrounded by family.
Mr. Gale, a civil engineer, founded Gale Engineering in 1964. Through his belief in his employees and their talents, Mr. Gale grew the engineering, architectural, and consulting firm into what is now a 100-person company known as Gale Associates, headquartered in Weymouth, Mass., with offices in Baltimore, Md.; Altamonte Springs, Fla.; Stafford, Va.; and Glastonbury, Conn.
He strongly believed in giving back and was intensely involved as a corporator and trustee of the Yarmouth Port Library, a past president of the Woodside Cemetery Corp. in Yarmouth Port, and a valued member of both the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics Assoc. and Rotary International.
Even with such a full and frenzied schedule that he kept until right before his death, Mr. Gale always had time for his family to listen, support, advise, and love. His shoulders were always there – as were his ears and heart. He helped his son and grandsons grow into strong, capable, and compassionate men, and his daughters and granddaughters into independent, self-sufficient women of substance – for which they are forever grateful.
He is survived by his three children: Jennifer (Gale) Hicks, Jessica Gale, and Edward Gale; his six grandchildren: Sarah (Hicks) O’Neil, Benjamin Hicks, Lucas Gale, Alexis (Czarnecki-Gale) Rivera, Cassidy Gale, and Charles Czarnecki-Gale; and his great grandchildren: Connor O’Neil, Emily O’Neil, and Elyana Hicks.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, from 1 – 3 at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Homes, 58 Long Pond Drive, So. Yarmouth, Mass. Light refreshments will be offered off-site after the visitation. Funeral will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yarmouth Port Library, 297 MA-6A, Yarmouth Port, Mass.; or to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, Hospice, 434 MA-134 G1, So. Dennis, Mass.
