Charles J. Murphy, Jr., better known as “Bud” of Bridgewater Ma, passed away on November 18, 2020 at the age of 67. He was the son of Claire and the late Charles J. “Skip” Murphy and son in-law of the late Lois and James O’Donnell.
Bud was born and raised in South Boston and enjoyed a loving childhood with his family, friends and cousins. He moved to Hanover during his junior year of high school and later graduated from Hanover High. After high school he started his lengthy and successful career as a plumbing and heating supply salesman with multiple companies throughout the years. In 1975, Bud met the love of his life, Maureen (O’Donnell) and the two married on September 9, 1978. They then settled in Halifax where they would raise their family for over 25 years.
Bud was and will forever be remembered as a quick witted man and the king of one-liners. He enjoyed coaching youth sports in town and eventually transitioned from coach to #1 fan when his three grandsons started playing sports of their own. Bud loved spending time with his family - especially his grandsons. He was formerly a proud member of the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps and continued to follow them long past his marching days.
Bud was the devoted husband of 42 years to Maureen Murphy. He was the loving father of Patrick C. Murphy and his wife Laura of Bridgewater, and Kristen Murphy and her partner Patrick O’Donnell of Middleboro. Beloved “Pa” of grandsons Declan Murphy, Connor Murphy, and J.D. Vitale. Brother of Margaret Riley and her late husband Joseph of Plymouth and Maureen Ennis and her late husband Jimmy of Bridgewater. Brother-in-law of Beth and Billy Couet of Centerville and Kelly and John Sullivan of Arlington. He is also survived by multiple generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
