Cheryl J. (Barber) Moore, 73, of Bridgewater, Mass., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House after a brief illness. Born on February 15, 1948, and raised in Brockton, the daughter of James and Adeline Barber, Cheryl was a graduate of Mater Dei Academy in Brockton, went on to be the first in her family to attend college and received her Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College. She enjoyed a long career at the Brockton Public Library where she made wonderful friends with whom she would travel the country on “Library Lady Trips.”
Loving wife and devoted mother, “Grammy” was happiest in the company of her six grandchildren. She passed her weekends sitting through countless ball games, plays and dance recitals but loved nothing more than a Sunday dinner surrounded by family. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Florida to visit her siblings, sightseeing adventures across the country with her friends and an annual few days with family in Old Orchard Beach at the end of each summer. She was an avid reader and rarely was seen without a book nearby.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Brian Moore and his wife Margaret of Newburyport, MA.; Derek Moore and his wife Ana Molin of Georgetown, TX, and Melissa (Moore) Destrampe and her husband Patrick of West Bridgewater, MA. She will be dearly missed by her six grandchildren: Aiden, Addie, Brendan, Violet, Luke and Josie. She is predeceased by, and now forever united with, her loving husband of 48 years, Francis Moore. She was the sister of Kathleen Spalti and Marsha White and predeceased by her brothers James and Donald.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Prophett-Chapman Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St, Bridgewater, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 27, at 11:00a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St., Bridgewater.
