Chester A. Berg

Chester A. Berg, 85 of Harwich passed away on January 4, 2019.  He was the loving husband of the late Agnes “Nan” Berg.

He is survived by his daughter Christine and predeceased by his son Steven.  He was the brother of Richard (his wife Margaret) Berg of Keene, NH, and Donald (his late wife Abby) of Cambridge, ME.  He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Berg.  He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Chester was born in Lynn, MA to the late Inez and Johannes Berg.  He was a graduate of Lynn English High School and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

His career took him from high school teacher to pharmaceutical sales to a business owner where he and Nan sold medical and environmental books.

After his retirement they moved to Harwich where he worked as a school bus driver.  Chester drove the bus for 20 years and loved working with his pre-school students.  He retired 3 years ago from Cape Destinations where he developed many friendships.  Chester was the former chairman and board member of the Harwich Conservation Commission.

His family would like to express their gratitude to Chester’s neighbors and close friends especially Dee Shippelhute.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19th at 1 pm at Pilgrim Congregational Church, Main St. Harwich Port.
