Cole Jacob Reissner, 21 of Sandwich, MA died unexpectedly at his home on October 8, 2019. Born in Somers Point, NJ on December 4, 1997, the son of James P. "Jim" Reissner and Annemarie (McAvoy) Reissner.
Cole, you were loved more than you’ll ever know. So many friends and family, even those that didn’t know you, have told me in these last few days how much they loved you. So many stories of how you were always there for someone else. How you faced down bullies for the kid who couldn’t, how you sat with the ignored kid, how you brought joy to the world of a few friends who had very hard home lives. I’m reminded of all the love and joy you have given our family. Your love for reptiles and how you taught me to live with snakes, your knowledge of every mushroom, your love of the ocean and always building new fish tanks and reefs, the love for hiking even at your lowest, how much your laugh sounded like uncle Genes and how you looked so much like grandpa or one of my brothers. How much you were a mini me- always ready for a good debate but so empathic; you were giving and truly loving. You tried to have a hard shell to protect the softest of insides, hurting for others and hurt deeply by the world. I remember how much you loved biking and skateboarding. You would spend hours, in the garage and outside, perfecting jumps. The ramps you would build! I remember that sense of humor- always an edge of silly, just like dad. How much you looked up to Noah and how much you looked out for Maya. I remember your first cry in the delivery room as if it were just yesterday. I know how much you loved me and how deeply I loved you. Son, you were my heart and soul, when you left this world, a piece of me died along with you. I pray Gods peace for us all.
