Kent was always a good friend. He and I go back to our earliest years in the QYC sailing class in the 1960s. Kent was a very good conversationalist, who listened well, was respectful, and offered considerate comments. I had looked forward to seeing Kent at the Fourth of July Parade every year. Kent was very unique, and Kent was always genuine. As kids, we had bluefished off Gansett, the Knob, and Penzance, which was beyond where we were supposed to be at that time. My regret is that Kent was not around much during the non-summer months, and that we barely saw each other during our adult years. Please accept our sincere condolences. Dana K. Smith and Family

Kent and I were lifelong friends as were our families. I'll miss his whit, commentary and our mutual love of sports. He battled his illness bravely and never complained. It's hard to believe he's gone...
