Hartley was my brother-in-law. He was so kind to me and my children. We loved going to his and Rosemary's house in the summer. He would play the piano and we would sit around him and sing. It was a splendid time. He will be dearly missed. God rest his soul.

I met Hartley and his wife while traveling in Cape Cod with friends of mine who were his relatives in Cape Cod. They were both so kind, considerate, and generous. Hartley gave us a tour aboard one of the research ships. He was informative and entertaining. I did not know all of his achievements until reading his obituary but it was obvious that he was brilliant. What a loss. Linda Beairsto
