Daniel W. Bentley, a well-liked resident of Bridgewater, died peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the loving son of the late Ralph and Mildred (Jarbirdy) Bentley and grew up in Bridgewater. He married the love of his life, Isabel L. (Amaral) Bentley on February 5, 1982. The two would raise their children in Bridgewater. Being one of 11 children, Dan’s father had him start working at an early age. He was a consummate hard worker and was a gifted mason and landscaper.
Later in life he worked in the maintenance department for Bridgewater State University until retiring in 1998. The two would raise their children in Bridgewater. Daniel loved watching his grandson Patrick play football, antique cars, and traveling to the various shows around New England. He was always proud of his blue 1963 Ford Galaxy; he loved filling it with his kids and grandkids and bringing them roller skating or for a ride on the highway.
Dan was the loving husband of 38 years to Isabel L. (Amaral) Bentley of Bridgewater and father of Lyne Bentley of ME, Daniel Bentley Jr. of CA, Charlene M. Taylor of NH, Lorenzo Taylor of Raynham, Paul Taylor of Bridgewater, and Rose A. Bentley of Taunton. Loving “Pa” of Lynde, Lorenzo III, Nathan, George, and Patrick. Great “Pa” of Logan and brother of Gerald, Harold, Silva, Rita , David, Gary, and the late Paula, Raymond, Flora, and Marguerite. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
All are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Feb. 18th for a visitation period from 12:00-1:30. At 1:30 a short service will be held and a luncheon gathering will be held afterwards. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
