David Currivan Figgie

David Currivan Figgie, 55, of Hyannis, MA formerly of Longmeadow, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Born in Longmeadow, he was the son of Geneva Currivan Figgie of Centerville and Dr. Peter M. Figgie and his wife Sandra of Longmeadow. David was a graduate of Westfield State University with a degree in Education which resulted in a career in teaching.  He taught History and had a positive impact on his students.

David had a deep appreciation for all aspects of history; the fine arts, culinary arts, and music.  His other passions included botany, horticulture, love of nature and animals.  He enjoyed playing basketball, lacrosse and golf as well as fishing, the Boston Celtics and caring for his extensive collection of tropical fish.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings Jennifer (John), Gregg, Peter (Sarah) and Marybeth and his step-brothers Scott and Kevin Shain, as well as his beloved Aunt Jane.  He will forever be loved and cherished by his nieces and nephews, Robert, Robbie, Peter, goddaughter Molly, Katie, Jessica, Peter and Sam.  David was predeceased by his brother Jeffrey and the love of his life Jade.

David was a kind, compassionate, gentle man; a genuine person full of values, faith, honor and integrity.  David will be remembered by his many friends. He touched so many with both love and laughter. David will be deeply missed and forever loved by all. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday, February 9th at St. Mary’s Church, Longmeadow, MA.  Burial will follow in Longmeadow Cemetery.
