David W. Ganshaw

David W. Ganshaw, 78 of Yarmouth Port passed away quietly in his sleep October 1, 2019.  He was predeceased by his loving wife, Peggy, of 53 years and his grandson Thomas F. Sheehan V.  David was born and raised in Wilson, New York.

After high school David attended college at Syracuse University until he met the love of his life on a blind date in 1961 on the Cape.  They brought four wonderful children into the world.  David owned a landscape business for many years.  

David was very involved with Hyannis Elks Lodge 1549.  He was Exalted Ruler in 2002-2003 and again in 2015-2016.  He served as Chairman of the Scholarship Committee for over 20 years and also Chaired the South District “Walk The Canal”.  He helped develop The Dictionary Project; and brought dictionaries each year to underprivileged students in Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School District in New York.

David was the father of Linda G. Inkley and her partner Geoffrey Antoine, of South Yarmouth; Kirsten Ganshaw, of Worcester; Gretchen and Tim Sheehan, of South Dennis; and Dieter and Mary Sue Ganshaw, of Harwich.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Preston (& Shauna) Inkley, of Lancaster, CA; Taylor W. Inkley, of Houston, TX; Lexa C. Inkley, of Manhattan, NY; Katerina and Josephine Ganshaw, of Harwich; two great-grandsons, Thomas F. Currie, of Hyannis; and Elliott L. Inkley, of Lancaster, CA and his faithful cats Frick & Frack.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, October 8 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Road, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.  The Elks Funeral Service Ritual will be held at the visitation at 6:30 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 32 Summer Street, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675. 

After four long, lonely years, Dad is finally reunited with Mom, the love of his life!
