Doris (Israel) Sagerman

Doris (Israel) Sagerman of Falmouth died February 6, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Israel.
Doris grew up in The Bronx, New York. She loved horseback riding and taught riding at Van Cortland Park. In 1943, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC). She was stationed in England with the 8th Army Air Force as a teletype operator.
She met David Sagerman in 1945 while he was still in the Army. They were married in 1946. Doris and David lived in New York City for 10 years. They moved to New Haven, CT where she worked at Southern Connecticut State College in the administration office. She then became the office manager at The New Haven Regional Center for The Mentally Retarded.
Upon retiring she enjoyed making miniature furniture and doll houses and was very active in the miniature craft community. She also enjoyed making jewelry and taught jewelry making classes. To escape the cold New England winters she moved to Boynton Beach Florida with her husband. Upon the death of her husband in 2015 she moved to Atria Woodbriar Place in Falmouth. While at Atria she continued her love of jewelry making.
She leaves her sons Robert Sagerman and his wife Nancy of Falmouth, and Jeffrey Sagerman and his wife Carolyn of Bennett Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Julie, William and Brian; 4 great grandchildren Alexandra, Bennett, Charlie and Warren; as well as an extended family of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Israel.
A funeral service will be held at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 11:30 AM. A burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 PM. Donations can be made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
