Dorothy E. (Dot) Arrighi, 93, of Bridgewater, quietly passed away on January 10, 2018, at her home in Bridgewater with her family by her side. Dot, a life time resident of Bridgewater was the daughter of the late Fannie (Ortolani) and Frederick Trocchi.
Dot was educated in Bridgewater, graduating from Bridgewater Academy in 1942, and then went on to secretarial school in Boston. Dot married William P. Arrighi on January 2nd, 1950 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the two settled in Bridgewater. In 1952, she and her husband co-founded Bill’s Taxi. While raising her five children, she simultaneously helped run the business; driving, dispatching, bookkeeping, and doing whatever it took to operate a successful business . Throughout the 1970s, she chaired the “Bridgewater Citizen’s Scholarship Drive”, raising funds for graduating seniors. Dot was also an active member of the Ousamequin Club.
In addition, Dot was a dedicated parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas parish, and a 50 year member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Women’s Club. Dot was a co-founder of the St. Thomas Aquinas Rummage Sale in 1975, working on each of the 42 rummage sales since, including the sale this past fall.
Dot was a lifelong Red Sox fan and sports enthusiast, especially those sports in which her children and grandchildren participated.
Wife of 68 years to William P. Arrighi of Bridgewater. Mother of Nancy M. Hankee and her husband, Bill of Indiana, Michael W. Arrighi and his wife, Gaile of Bridgewater, Steven P. Arrighi and his wife, Gayle of Pocassett, Thomas P. Arrighi and his wife, Pamela of Bridgewater and Mariann A. Youniss and her husband, Andy of Wellesley. Proud “Noni” to Lindsay, Christopher, Emily, T.W., Taryn, Tesslyn, Jayne, Maddy, Michael, and “Great-Noni” to Sophia, Benjamin, and Amy. Sister of the late Mary Trocchi and Eva May Johnson. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly.
Visiting hours are private, however a receiving line will begin Saturday, January 13th at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church 103 Center St., Bridgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
