Dorothy H. Hearn

Dorothy H. (Philippi) Hearn, passed away peacefully at the JML Care Center in Falmouth on May 8, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis (Frank) Ferris, widow of the late A.G. Hearn and daughter of the late Pauline and William Philippi.

Dorothy was born and raised in Verga, NJ. She graduated w honors from Paulsboro High School class of 1937 and was also a graduate of Camden Commercial College. She worked as a private secretary to the director of research at R.M. Hollingshead in Camden, NJ. Dorothy was also a principal secretary and Board of Education Secretary at both the National Park School and Edgarton Memorial School in New Jersey. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Susan M. Schrock and husband David of Mt. Dora, FL, Alexa M. Fox and husband Robert of Mashpee, MA, 3 grandchildren Jessica Thompson McIlvaine of Florida, Graham Fox of Cleveland, OH, Katie Dias and husband Robert of Mashpee, 2 great grandchildren Robert N. Dias and Jayden N. Dias, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Matthew Ferris Thompson. The family would like to thank the Staff at the JML Care Center for their support, friendship and loving care that they gave to Dorothy.

A private burial will be held at the Beverly National Cemetery in New Jersey.
