Dorothy May Pittsley

Dorothy May (Tremonte) Pittsley, 78, of East Bridgewater died peacefully but unexpectedly on Jan. 7th.

Dorothy was the loving daughter of the late Albert and Nellie (Nickerson) Tremonte and grew up in East Boston. She was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1955 and would settle in East Bridgewater in September of 1962 where she raised her daughters. Along with being a great mom, Dorothy worked for the Raynham Dog Track for a few years before embarking on a 27 year career with the Foxboro Company. She loved being with her family, going to Foxwoods, listening to Neil Diamond and being with her beloved grandchildren.

When Dorothy was asked what her greatest accomplishment in life was she answered, “Giving birth to four wonderful girls”, it captures everything about her. She was full of life and at her request please make her funeral a celebration – wear bright or pastel colored clothes, share stories, and have one final toasted-almond for her.

Dorothy was the loving mother of Linda M. Salmeri and her husband David of East Bridgewater, Lisa A. (Lengowicz) Francescon of NC, Cheryl L. O’Malley and her husband Sean of Brockton, and the late Lori J. Rodrigues. Proud “Mammy” of Joseph, Andrew, Dylan, Brandon, Emily May, and Sean Patrick. Sister of the late Olympia, Albert, William, Howard, Anthony, Charles, Harold, and Ann. Best friend and proverbial sister of Jane Berglund of Brockton.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation period at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring St. East Bridgewater on Wed. from 5-8pm. A funeral home service will be held on Thurs. at 10:00am followed by a burial at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
