Dr. Edward H. Fitch

Edward Hugh Fitch, 84, of Falmouth, died on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Dr. Fitch was born April 10, 1932, the son of the late Charles and Esther Fitch of Wellesley Hills. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara B. Fitch in 1984 and his brother Charlie in 2009.  He leaves his best friend and love, Maureen E. Fredericks. He was the loving father of Karen DelGreco and her husband John of Melrose, Jonathan Fitch and his wife Betsy of Santa Cruz, CA, and Susan Whitaker and her husband Kevin of South Weymouth. He was the proud grandfather of Miles and Griffin DelGreco and Callie and Jed Whitaker.

Dr. Fitch was a veteran of the Korean War. He attended Boston University and was a graduate of Pennsylvania State College of Optometry and practiced his profession in Falmouth from 1959 to 2012.

He was formerly the President of the Kiwanis Club, Vice President of Falmouth Hospital, a Director of the Falmouth Bank and Trust, a Town Meeting member from 1962 to 1984, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Council on Aging for 19 years.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 10 at St. Patrick Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth.  Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
